As part of its commitment to the natural environment and in compliance with the Environmental Impact Statement for the Ciudad Real 1 project, Sunco has built a nesting box to encourage the breeding and settlement of the Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni), a species classified as vulnerable and protected at national and European level.
This action is part of a series of environmental measures associated with the 39.97 MWp solar photovoltaic plant located in the area, and also includes the installation of nest boxes integrated into natural stone cairns and a platform for the reproduction of barn owls (Tyto alba), thus reinforcing the biodiversity of the environment.
The building, constructed as a primillar, with a simple structure adapted to the rural environment, has specific areas for nesting, monitoring, and maintenance, and incorporates an open acclimatization patio that will allow for future reintroduction tasks, if necessary. The building is located on a plot of land close to the solar plant, at a point strategically chosen for its visibility, accessibility, and favorable environmental conditions.
This initiative demonstrates Sunco’s firm commitment to sustainability, ensuring that energy development coexists responsibly with the protection of local ecosystems.
